Local directions
These pages contain descriptions, maps and visual references that will help you orient yourself on your arrival in Genova . For practical purposes, we are using the Genova Brignole Railway Station as the major landmark for arrivals and subsequent connections to the institution housing participants.
This information is being provided presuming that you will try to use local public transport rather than taxis (which can in no way be refunded!). Clearly, taking a taxi is much easier but more expensive: taxi fare ranges between 15/20 (from Genova Brignole) to 30/40 (from the Genova Airport) euros.
It is advisable to purchase some bus tickets immediately on your arrival (€ 1.20 each; valid for 90 minutes on metropolitan mass transit routes, including many local trains.
Tickets can be purchased at tobacconists and newsstands, as well as at an automatic vending machine in Piazza Giuseppe Verdi (i.e., the major square in front of the Genova Brignole Station). When you board the bus, you must stamp the ticket in the small yellow machine that you will find at the rear or at the front of the bus once inside.
