Local directions
These pages contain descriptions, maps and visual references that will help you orient yourself on your arrival in Genova and to reach your accommodations the Collegio Emiliani. For practical purposes, we are using the Genova Brignole Railway Station as the major landmark for arrivals and subsequent connections to the institution housing participants.
This information is being provided presuming that you will try to use local public transport rather than taxis (which can in no way be refunded!). Clearly, taking a taxi is much easier but more expensive: taxi fare ranges between 15/20 (from Genova Brignole) to 30/40 (from the Genova Airport) euros.
It is advisable to purchase some bus tickets immediately on your arrival (€ 1.20 each; valid for 90 minutes on metropolitan mass transit routes, including many local trains.
Tickets can be purchased at tobacconists and newsstands, as well as at an automatic vending machine in Piazza Giuseppe Verdi (i.e., the major square in front of the Genova Brignole Station). When you board the bus, you must stamp the ticket in the small yellow machine that you will find at the rear or at the front of the bus once inside.

ON YOUR ARRIVAL IN GENOVA
HOW TO REACH THE COLLEGIO EMILIANI FROM GENOVA BRIGNOLE
Take bus no. 17
The platform for the no. 17 Bus is located approximately 50 meters from the Volabus end of the line, or outside the station and across the street at the farthest platform to your left. The journey lasts approximately 20-25 minutes. You must get off at the first bus stop in Genova Nervi (ask the driver or another passenger; if you don't want to ask, the stop is situated in a large, recently renovated roundabout/square). Once off the bus, turn to your right, proceed to the corner and take the street (Via Felice Gazzolo) that leads down to the "Porticciolo” (small harbor) in Nervi. At the end of the street there's a T-intersection: here turn right, continue for approximately 50 meters until you reach a small alley (Via Provana di Leyni) that leads up to the gate of the Collegio Emiliani.

ON MONDAY MORNING OF THE COURSE
HOW TO REACH THE COURSE VENUE FROM THE COLLEGIO EMILIANI
Bus no. 17
The most convenient route is as follows: outside the Collegio gate turn to your right and proceed down Via Provana di Leyni until you reach the small harbor of Nervi and, 50 meters ahead, the intersection with Via Felice Gazzolo. Turn left and continue until you reach the large roundabout. Cross the roundabout to the bus stop for the number 17 bus (a large “accordion” bus). Take the number 17 bus towards downtown Genova for approximately 2.5 km.s. Keep on the lookout for a bridge passing over the road: you should get off the bus at the third stop after this bridge. Other good markers to look out for are an ESSO gas/service station and a large modern hotel (the AC Hotel), which should be directly across the street from you when you get off the bus. After crossing Corso Europa at the stoplight, turn left and proceed for about 50 meters until you reach Via Antica Romana della Castagne. The Badia Benedettina is located another 50 meters straight on, and will be clearly marked as venue of Genetic and Renal Diseseas Course. Refer to the map for help, and remember the address: Badia Benedettina, Via Antica Romana della Castagna.
